Leah Edwards, Soprano

Richmond-born soprano Leah Edwards received her Bachelor of Music from The Eastman School of Music and her Master of Music in Vocal Arts from The Juilliard School. Her repertoire includes Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Galatea (Die schone Galatea), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Manon (Manon), Ilia (Idomeneo), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), and Adina (L'elisir d'amore). Equally at home in the realm of musical theatre, Ms. Edwards has joined the cast of Juno, No, no, Nanette and Music in the Air in New York's City Center's Encore! series. Regionally, Ms. Edwards has performed Amalia Balash in Bock and Harnick's She Loves Me, Beggar Woman in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, and created the role of Elizabeth Bennet in a new musical Pride and Prejudice.

While at Juilliard, Ms. Edwards performed with the Juilliard Opera Theatre in Cavalli's La Calisto (Eternita and Linfea) and with the Juilliard Opera Center in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortileges (La Bergere and La Pastourelle), Smetana's The Bartered Bride, and the world-premier of Lowell Libermann's Miss Lonelyhearts. An advocate of new music, Ms. Edwards has also performed works by Jed Distler, Lainie Fefferman, Jude Vaclavik, Wayne O'Quinn, Tony Prabowo and William Kraft.

An active recitalist, Ms. Edwards has been seen in concert in Los Angeles, Rochester, Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia and New York City's Alice Tully and Weill Recital Halls. In 2003, Ms. Edwards made her professional debut as a soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Most recently she has performed with The Santa Fe Opera, The Gotham Chamber Opera and The Richard Tucker Foundation.

Ms. Edwards is also an accomplished pianist and dancer. She currently resides in New York City.
